Mercer County Symphonic Band

The Mercer County Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dr. Louis Woodruff, is a performing ensemble of Mercer County Community College.  The Band is celebrating its 40th season this year, with sixty participating musicians, spanning six decades in age.  The Band is dedicated to the musical growth and enjoyment of its musicians and audiences. Sponsored by Mercer County Community College and home to over 300 local musicians over the years, the Band provides a unique opportunity for musicians of all ages to develop instrumental skills.

The Band remains dedicated to the musical growth of its members and to the musical knowledge and appreciation of its audiences.  Concert performances present music from the past and the present, accompanied with information on the composers and the compositions being performed to heighten the audience's understanding and appreciation.

In addition to presenting annual Winter and Spring concerts at the Kelsey Theater at Mercer County Community College, the Band performs for area retirement communities and community events, and at the annual July 5th Cranbury Township Fireworks Celebration.

The Band rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, from September though June, in the Music Suite (CM156) on the Mercer County Community College's West Windsor Campus.  Auditions are NOT required.  Musicians are invited to sit in a rehearsal and continue to participate if they feel a connection with the music and the group.  For information about performing with the Band, or to make arrangements for a sponsored Band performance, please contact us at mercerbandnjorg@gmail.com  or through the College's Music Department at 609-586-4800, ext. 3735.
